FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Baltimore, Maryland…August 18, 2016…VoiceVibes, Inc., the developer of the innovative speech analysis tool that improves the public speaking ability of its users, announced today that it has been notified by the National Science Foundation (NSF) of a grant award totaling $747,422. This award represents a Phase II round of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) funding from the NSF directed toward the technical build-out of the VoiceVibes software, currently in beta test.
College and university students use VoiceVibes as a digital training tool in their public speaking, speech, communications, and business classes. The software provides automated assessment of a speeches and displays dashboards that score vocal delivery on a number of attributes – such as pace, pausing, pitch and clarity. Teachers use the product to track the practice frequency and progress of their students, enabling them to extend their professional reach on a virtual basis to every single student.
New features to be developed include teacher administrative tools, faster processing and the inclusion of new "Vibe" models to show users how they come across as they speak. “It is exciting to receive this follow-on grant from the NSF,” said founder and CEO Debra Bond Cancro. “Not only will be the funds help us to speed the delivery of these and other enhancements to market, but the NSF’s detailed due diligence and subsequent award decision confirms the value we see for this electronic learning tool in the higher education market.”
Ten partner colleges and universities have been using VoiceVibes software throughout a variety of public speaking, business and communications classes this year. To read some comments from both those teachers and their students, click here.
